My Top 5 Fave Wrestlers of the 90's

The 80's put pro wrestling on the map of pop culture, but the 90's showed pro wrestling new heights of popularity it had never known before. In this article I will discuss my favorite wrestlers and why.

5. Hulk Hogan

Height 6' 8"
Weight 303 lbs.

This guy was everywhere in the 80's and 90's. He had put pro wrestling on the map and became it's biggest and best known star. He had the look, the mic skill, and natural charisma. He just had everything to make you a star. Granted, in the technical aspects of the wrestling craft he was lacking. He could tell a good story in the ring and was good enough on the mic to go from one of the most loved wrestlers to one of the most hated and actually made that cool. You have to respect his overall body of work in the wrestling business as a good guy and bad.

4. Bret Hart

Height 6'0"
Weight 234 lbs.

From the least technical to the most, this guy was one of the best technical wrestlers ever. He made you believe every move he did and he performed it by the book. Perfectly executed, hence his nickname,  "The Excellence of Execution".  What I liked about him was in his promos. He spoke directly and calmly. He had great matches every night, and his "Iron Man" match with HBK was one of the greatest matches ever. He had a series of great matches with Stone Cold as well. I always wanted a pair of his glasses. Bret just might have been the "best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be".

3.Stone Cold Steve Austin

Height 6'2"
Weight 252 lbs.

At first, I hated this guy for 2 reasons: I did not like the Austin 3:16 thing, and I did not like his promo on jJake The Snake,   taking a shot at a guy for reading his Bible. But he grew on me. He was great on the mic and great in ring. He could go just as hard after an hour as he did at the start. And all the crazy things he did like beat up Santa and drive large trucks into the building ; he was the rebellious anti hero taking a stand against the evil boss.

2. Razor Ramon

Height 6'7"
Weight 287 lbs.

The bad guy survey says I mimicked this guy more than any other wrestler throughout my time watching wrestling. He had some of the most brutal finishers of all time, he had the coolest theme music, he had the gold chains that he would give to one of his fans in the ring, and I liked his ring style.  He slapped around the guy in the ring. He was great on the mic too. If he didn't have an alcohol problem, there would have been no telling how far he would have went in the business. He never got the World Title, but he is in my opinion the best Intercontinental Champ ever.

1. Sting

Height '6'2"
Weight 252 lbs.

This guy is the one that got me into wrestling to begin with. I had watched a few times before seeing him, but I was not a regular fan. One night I was playing with my action figures and watching cartoons and my brother Matt came in and took the remote and put it on wrestling. At first, I was angry but I quickly realized that what he was watching was cool too me. I saw Johnny B. Badd  and One Man Gang and then I saw the Nasty Boys. But after that, the match that made me a regular fan; Sting and Arn Anderson. What set Sting apart is he had a ton of energy and was the perfect combination of speed, strength, and technical skill. This guy could come off the top like a high-flyer. He had a ton of raw power and great submissions. He could do everything. He had everything Hogan had except he had the in-ring wrestling ability that Hogan lacked, and Sting has been my favorite wrestler ever since.
