Kids WB Christmas Blocks

It's the most wonderful time of year again. Yep, talking about sale season... I mean Christmas. A time where people come together and celebrate family and the near end of the new year. While thinking of a theme, I came across Kids WB, a Saturday Morning Block in the '90s, and looked into it more. I looked at their... interesting... Christmas themes, and picked out three that stuck out to me. So here are the three I picked.

Holiday Sock Party (2001)

Mascots usually change during a run of a program block, though usually design wise. However, Kids WB's choice in mascots have been odd to downright weird. At first there was no mascot, then it was the logo, and then for a brief time it was a sock.

Holiday Sock Party itself was Kids WB's usual cut and paste show characters together in one place and interacting with each other through various skits and gags. As a kid, it was funny at times. As an adult, super cheesy and corny. But it also sums up the block if you were to explain what it was. It was odd and weird, but that's what made it memorable.

The Cryptkeeper’s Ghoulish Guide to the Howlidays (2001)

Hey, did you know the Cryptkeeper hosted days on Kids WB? Well you do now and it was pretty good. While this wasn't his first time hosting, he still brought over his personality, cheesy puns and all. While none of the shows he's been in appeared on Kids WB, he has hosted a couple themed days including this one.

This theme was him giving tips for the upcoming holiday season, in his own ghoulish way. I have a soft spot for the Cryptkeeper, as his brand of humor is cheesy enough to be good for both adults and kids. In this the dining room set was decked out in holiday decorations with Cryptkeeper dressed in his holiday best.

I enjoyed this while researching. It got a chuckle out of me here and there, and it reminded me why I liked this block.

Kooky Karolfest (1999)

Finishing off these three is going back to the block's usual brand of specials, copy and pasting characters in one area. While it's not new, the other studios tried to blend it together. Partner station Cartoon Network has an era about their shows being together, but that's for another article.

What was this one about? Characters from the block's shows singing carols. Simple, but not that good when you really look at it. Yeah it was for kids, but other stations have done better. But, that's what made the block special.

Kids WB had unique themes. Much like the holidays, it's not what you see it's what you feel. While the holiday themes were odd, they still had fun with it and that's what this season is all about. Fun, friends, family, and food. So from me to all of you, Happy Holidays... and remember to live life and live nostalgic.
