5566ArticleVaporman87That sucks. I hate seeing/hearing about the state of most malls these days. There are a few bright spots here and there... actually most malls I've visited in West Virginia are doing well (Barboursville/Huntington Mall, Parkersburg Mall, Beckley area mall). The mall I'm most familiar with from my youth (Parkersburg) recently added a whole new section for Ross, Petland, and some other anchor-type stores. Dec 07, 2021View
5567ArticleVaporman87Malls truly do go all out to give you that holiday spirit... because that equates to dollars! Still, it makes for some nice memories. My introduction to holidays at the mallDec 10, 2021View
5574ArticleVaporman87I've never been a fan of Super Smash Brothers. The concept is great on paper. But the execution is just dreadful. There is too much on screen action. I lose track of where I am half the time, and things happen so fast that you can't really create any kind of strategy. All you do is just mash buttons and hope you get more hits than the opponent. I'd much prefer a standard fighting game where I can concentrate on my moves and strategy.Super Smash Bros. Melee: Star Studded SequelJan 05, 2022View
5588ArticleVaporman87That's awesome that there is a restored new version being released. It seems there are several companies out there buying up retro properties that were maybe not large scale hits, but have enough of a following to warrant new merch. I recently saw that the folks behind the "Toys That Made Us" series are rereleasing Robo Force? I rest my case. LOLRemembering The Omega VirusJan 20, 2022View
5589ArticleVaporman87Ahh. I feel safer within my winterproof fort already. I have known of the curious case of hot Dr Pepper for quite some time. As my favorite soda, it definitely boggles the mind to think of it being gulped down like a coffee. My grandmother left us a few boxes of recipes pulled from magazines of her time containing recipes like you mention that really make you scratch your head. Who thought of these things?! Who would have eaten them? Blech! Though, once in a while, I'd come across one that sounded sort of edible. As for reading, I've been in and out of the world of Olympic Vista (via the Olympic Vista Chronicles), with the first of a series, "Yesterday's Gone" by Kelly Pawlik. It's been a satisfactory defense against the snow and ice. Surviving the Long, Cold Winter Part II: Further FortificationsJan 20, 2022View
5598ArticleVaporman87Agreed. Though I think it is one thing to use old branding in advertisements and such. It is something else entirely to incorporate those old aesthetics into the business model and see it extend to physical items and locations. THAT is what I'm waiting for. What's Old is New Again:Retro Branding ComebacksFeb 08, 2022View
5599ArticleVaporman87I think there are levels of disappointment that could be discussed here, but I'm going to stick to the less personal ones... more focused on product and school life than life at home and relationships. I was very disappointed when Masters of the Universe abruptly went belly up in '87. They had some pretty cool things planned that would have been awesome to see on shelves, even though I was growing out of collecting them around that time. I was disappointed that a school levy that would have created a brand new high school that would have been ready by the time my age group arrived there did not pass.Top four disappointing moments of childhoodFeb 08, 2022View
5611ArticleVaporman87Yeah, I'm in complete agreement. Without Shredder and the budget to make the turtles animate convincingly, this movie was a total waste. I think the concept of going back in time could have worked pretty well in the hands of a better writing team and with Shredder once again stirring up trouble... perhaps with Krang at his side.TMNT III: A Farce of a FinaleMar 21, 2022View
5609ArticleVaporman87@Maxine - Sorry to hear that. Even here in the states, most conventions that slant toward "retro" content are too focused on retro gaming. RetroCon 2017 ReportMar 09, 2022View
5631ArticleVaporman87Folks prefer some images scattered throughout the articles. But, having said that, this was an entertaining look into the "behind the counter" action in a video store. Those will be memories cherished forever, no doubt. Especially now that they've gone the way of the Dodo.I Was A Preteen Video Store Clerk for My Dad's ShopApr 22, 2022View
