It's also one of the most tangled stories in animation.</p> <p>My take on Sailor Moon differs from Ray Mona's accounting as I see the influence of Toei Animation in the adaptation of Sailor Moon for the anime series in Japan. You guys know that Toei Animation handled the cartoon sequences for "Jem and the Holograms" back in the '80's, and you can bet that's where the anime version pulled most of its story ideas since Toei Animation also handled Sailor Moon in the Japanese market.</p> <p>The idea of a "mixed-media", live-action-animated American version of Sailor Moon scared away most of the usual backers of these kinds of projects because of extremely high production costs.
