Nothing shocked me more than CBS cancelling the Saturday morning "Weird Al Show" in 1997, after only 13 episodes. I actually liked Al's comedy better than Pee Wee's Playhouse, but the audience just wasn't there. |

I respectfully have to disagree about The Weird Al Show. I think the show's biggest failure was having "Weird" Al, one of the nicest and most supportive people in show business, playing such an incorrigible, childish jerk. I was turned off by the first episode, and I wish Al had played a character truer to himself. eddstarr wrote :

You called this one perfectly, Caps. CBS dropped "Weird Al" faster than 3rd period French - LOL! The TV show went against the character Al had established for years, many longtime fans reacted that same as you. I understood Al was under expectations to create a different character that was still named Al, go figure! |
