This was a tremendous effort by Columbia studios to keep the movie theater action/adventure serials alive during the war years of the 1940's. These studio produced episodic serials were a way to keep theaters packed, especially on weekends. The Batman series was concurrent with the Fleischer Bros. Superman animated series. You know these movie theater presentations had a powerful influence on the movie industry, leading to the popular franchises we have today. Many action/adventure/sci-fi properties still follow the same plot formulas used in this earliest Batman series. Looks to me like Bruce Wayne's "Batmobile", is a 1937 Cadillac Series 75 Convertible Sedan by Fleetwood.
