why did they change his parents' designs and colors from that one spongebob episode?

Once the older fans watch this new show, they're sure to change the parents' looks back to original.

This show is basically Uncle Grandpa 2.0 from the looks of it.

i doubt i'll even be watching, really. i feel like this is one of those instances where stephen hillenburg didn't want this to happen and it's just nickelodeon milking the series for its worth. spongebob squarepants was supposed to be considered "the last 2D nicktoon" and something tells me that this will take over that show soon enough. the kids of this generation will love it i'm sure, i'm just seeing cashgrab written all over this.

Part of me feels like this'll get just 2 seasons.

OK, so this is not my imagination - this is REAL?  

The fact that this is the second spin-off released since Hillenburg's death after two decades of not having any tells me this is 100% a money grab.

seeing how this is nickelodeon's doing, i highly doubt it will just end at two seasons, maybe they'll keep it around for like ten if any of the voice actors are still around for that long. it's just sad how this is what's keeping the channel afloat these days. and of course, the nickelodeon kids' choice awards having spongebob win for best cartoon almost every time now. no effort put into it whatsoever.

The voice actor for Patrick is extremely similar to Uncle Grandpa, but the actors for both characters are entirely different!
