Can the great Steven Spielberg pull this off?

Wow, this is a difficult one for me.

The 1961 film made Rita Moreno a star and made street gangs seem waay cool. The era of the musical has past in my book. Obviously there are people who think the time of the musical may be reemerging.

I'm not sure if this'll be an Oscar winner, edd, but maybe there's hope for it.

Steven Spielberg hangs with a crowd that always have their antenna out on the public pulse. Everyone involved must be sensing a shift in perception around musicals.

I can only hope that they are correct. This film must attract a young audience, there aren't enough old timers willing and/or able to make a successful showing.
