Call it fate, call it karma, maybe I was just inspired by the work of SequelQuest to pitch a Ghostbusters sequel. I hope you all enjoy!

(NEW YORK CITY- The events of Ghostbusters I+II have largely been forgotten thanks to a parapsychic induced mass-amnesia)

SETH ROGEN, KENAN THOMPSON, and BILL HADER host a YouTube Channel that investigates paranormal activity (similar to Ghost Adventures). Rogen believes in ghosts but hasn’t been able to capture one on film. Thompson is a skeptic and Hader is a techie who runs the camera. They have to fake ghost encounters on their show to attract viewers.

One day they are contacted by CECILY STRONG who invites them to investigate her apartment. She claims to have seen ghost pirates in her pantry. The crew investigates but doesn’t see anything and crack jokes. Strong decides to hold a séance to make them appear (she claims to be a medium). It works- the ghost pirates appear and cut the table in half. The Dutch Pirate Captain says one word- “Waalstraat” before chasing them out.

They hangout at a pizza place. Strong feels relieved that somebody finally believes her. Rogen reveals that he saw a ghost as a child and has made it his life’s work to prove their existence.

Realizing that ghosts are now real (who you gonna call?)- they call up the original Ghostbusters hotline. They meet up with a retired RAY STANTZ who is living at the firestation.  He is eating a peanut butter and stay-puft marshmallow sandwich. He talks a bunch of what seems like nonsense about mass amnesia and a paranormal resurgence. Before the crew leaves, he gives them a PKE meter, ghost trap, and the proton pack that formerly belonged to EGON.

On the walk back, the PKE meter activates. They encounter SLIMER who is eating out of a garbage can. After much trial and error, they successfully use the proton pack and ghost trap to capture slimer.

The group starts ghost hunting on their YouTube channel. Hader reverse engineers the proton pack to make one for each member of the group. This version creates plasma from hydrogen to be “more environmentally friendly.” There is a montage of ghost hunting with the number of ghostly encounters increasing.

Rogen researches “Waalstraat” at the New York Public Library and learns that it is the Dutch word for Wall Street. They find out that a wall was built by early Dutch settlers to separate the living from the dead.

They head to the 40 Wall Street Building to investigate. They pretend to be exterminators and are there to take care of a giant rat problem. They head downstairs into the basement where they find a wooden palisade that has purple ooze seeping out of it.

Strong gets temporarily possessed and the wall opens just enough for a GIANT SLOAR to emerge. The gang is no match for the giant reptilian creature but then the original Ghostbusters crew shows up- STANTZ, ZEDDEMORE, and VENKMAN. Thompson says that he literally texted them an hour ago.

Together they blow up the Giant Sloar and Venkman gives the line- “We came, we saw, we kicked its ass.”

After they celebrate, the wall opens up slightly and there is a blinding light. Stantz sees the ghost of Egon (offscreen). Stantz says “he says it’s okay.” Venkman destroys the wall using his proton pack and a bunch of ghosts escape. The divide between the living and the dead is gone- “they need our help” he explains. Zeddemore says, “Well then we’ve got a lot of bustin to do”

Cue the Ghostbusters theme song.

Amazing! You've picked up on the historical ties between New York and Belgium.

Belgium is a kingdom made up of two major groups, the Flemish (Flanders) in the North who speak Dutch, and Wallonia (the Walloons) in the South who speak French. Among the first settlers of New Amsterdam were the Walloons and they secured the region for the Dutch. Maybe the origin of "Wall Street"?

And you've also picked up on the old stories that people don't talk much about these days.

Wall Street was considered by old timers to be a bad choice for NYC's financial center because of "Waalstraat's" slaver past, and the legends of ghosts and spirits that used to haunt the early settlers. Reports of "sightings" by people who work in the Financial District used to appear and make the news from time to time, up through the 1960's.

But that was a long time ago and you don't hear about any of that stuff anymore.
