Anyone read this unique graphic novel or comic series? i read the comics when they first came out when i was 4 about 27 years ago as i collected 12 issues and they soar my imagination to new heights and made me think a bit. I bought the graphic novel when i was 13 as it was my first graphic novel purchase.

This one is a nice retro thought provoking and unique story about humanity than ordinary superheroes, Alan Moore is a genius.

The movie adaptation was enjoyable.

It's definitely in stark contrast to most comics. Everything feels hopeless and dark.

I would say it compares to The Dark Knight but the interaction between all the members of the Watchmen make it seem more like a bleak world, instead of just one man dealing with his own demons.

I'm bumping this thread (sorry) because the Watchmen graphic novel deserves more attention. While I'd seen glimpses of the movie, the book really grabbed me, and is probably the best thing published by DC besides Batman. Oh yeah.

DC probably wishes they could re-capture the essence of that book. They've made some decent attempts... with Kingdom Come and Batman: Hush (though with Hush, I think they went a bit overboard with the "whodunnit?" narrative).
