skull berets with pigtails, a black dress, and tiny shoes was the original design choice. and for some odd reason i'd start drawing a tiny gargoyle creature by her side (forgot to draw wings on the one above).
well, the design kept taking different forms up until 2004, when i gave her cargo pants and sneakers. i had her come from a timeframe as well, as she's from the late 80's but i think the cargos kinda set that back a little...

i really have no idea why i went with giving her a scythe. heck, my intention was to have her be an orphaned five year old. about a year later i developed a not-so-good idea as to give her a story titled "blooded moonlight" in which she discovers an abandoned castle with her new father, and how she meets the gargoyle. there was a ton of trashed ideas, leaving me with unfinished drafts.
during 2009 i kinda brought katie back after being M.I.A. in my cartoons since 2005. she was now ten years old, and (sigh) still had that scythe.

i can't say much for this style. at the same time i liked and hated it. unfortunately i didn't really have another story this time around, except one that sounded pretty cheesy. it was going to be inspired by the movie "stay tuned" and the gex series for the playstation, as katie is transported into different channel worlds to hunt down a villain who's taking control of televisions everywhere.

moving on...
as one last effort in something plot-wise, i had drawn a 16 year old version of katie, with a story that takes her into a gloomy and steampunk type of demon world. it sounded interesting at the time, and it still kind of does, i just don't know what to do with it...

overall, katie's one of the characters that's still in limbo in the character department. she's an interesting one to boot, yet i stink at storytelling, hence where gilda came in.
speaking of gilda, when i wrote one of the chapters i decided to have katie appear as a cameo for a halloween-themed planet that gilda visits, as she's now a wandering spirit that hosts halloween parties every october.

well that's about it for this history lesson. hope you guys enjoyed reading!
