Article | Hoju Koolander | @massreality yeah, I remember there being a Darkman connection there somewhere. | May 06, 2015 | ![]() |
Article | Hoju Koolander | @thecrow174 I knew I would take some heat over Excitebike (pardon the pun), but I stand by it. As far as racing games go, Ironman Ivan Stewart's Off Road was infinitely more playable to me, almost hypnotic, but Excitebike just never cut it. | NES: The 5 Worst Games | May 12, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | Aw, you spoil all the fun by being civil ;) But it's true, naming the greats is totally subjective. Ninja Gaiden might he the greatest game ever, but if my brother flicked my ear every time I tried to play it, I would likely have bad memories of it and keep it off the list. | NES: The 5 Best Games | May 12, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | @jkatz Ghostbusters was #6 on the list. it's actually so bad I don't even consider it a game, just an abomination. I could never make anything work on that game, even after reading the instructions. I never even got far enough to find something to complain about. | NES: The 5 Worst Games | May 12, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | Fun list. The funny thing about Hogan is that although his heel turn with the NWO was a big deal at the time, he actually started out as a bad guy in his early career and his limited "Hulkster" moves still reflected that. The eye rake and back rake were pretty clear examples of this. | My Top 5 Fave Wrestlers of the 90's | May 24, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | These guys were so much more than basketball players, they were pop icons, that's what allowed me to relate to this list. I made comic with a friend in high school called "The Vengeance of Hakeem", where Hakeem's Dad was secretly murdering all the competition to elevate his son's status. I had never even seen the guy play, but adapting him to my twisted comic stylings at my buddy's suggestion made him immortal in my eyes. | My Top 5 Fave NBA Players of the 90's | May 27, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | @Vaporman87 Good to be back! Oh poor Prototype, aka "Imitation Iron Man", at least he wasn't as mixed up as "Mantra"...oh my. I totally had the Marvel Super Heroes Deathlok action figure with the lifting metal brain cover, even though I never picked up an issue of his book. I always got Union and Supreme mixed up for some reason. @comic_book_fan Sleepwalker definitely needed to be on this list. I feel like whenever I see piles of old comics at a thrift store there is bound to be 2 or 3 Sleepwalker #1's in there. | Five Forgotten Comic Heroes of the 90's | Jun 19, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | @jkatz I feel like the whole line of Valiant books belongs on this list, since they never really had a breakout star in the mainstream. Unless you count Turok getting a game on the N64. Their artwork was pretty drab (aside from Quesada on Ninjak and later Bart Sears on X-O), but I liked the stories themselves. | Five Forgotten Comic Heroes of the 90's | Jun 20, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | I remember seeing the trailer for Little Nemo and My Neighbor Totoro a lot back in the day, but never watched either one. I was less about whimsy and more about sci-fi action. I have since seen some Winsor McCay inspired art though and I love the detail of his work. My wife, who wasn't so media savvy as a child counts Little Nemo: Dream Master as one of her favorite NES games next to Super Mario Bros. 3. I actually found her a copy of the game at a used book store a few months back and she was pretty excited. She still knew all the old secrets of the gameplay and I have to agree that it's a well made game for the era. | Little Nemo | Jun 24, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | Great subject and memories. I always dreamed of a treehouse as well. We even had a gigantic tree in our backyard I thought would have been perfect, but the trunk was so tall, the nearest branches were like 25 feet off the ground in the "danger zone". I had to settle for "building" a fort in the bushes at the base of a large tree in our front yard, but it wasn't the same. | Castles of Yesteryear | Jul 04, 2015 | ![]()
