51187Am I too old to be staying up at night watching TeenNick to catch Hey Arnold! reruns?
eddstar, yep as C.S. Lewis said "Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves."

There is nothing wrong at all with enjoying at all the cartoons you enjoyed as a child, just as there is nothing wrong at all with greatly enjoying animation as an adult. And I love the fact that everyone in your sixth grade class showed their admiration for Bugs Bunny. Everyone loves Bug Bunny (I absolutely adored him as a kid as well as Daffy Duck and the Looney Tunes in general). He is one of those timeless characters that everyone grows up with and loves along with the original Scooby-Doo gang, Garfield, Tom and Jerry, Rocky and Bullwinkle, etc...

Speaking of all this makes me really miss the Betty Cohen days of Cartoon Network when CN showed regular programming of reruns of classic cartoons as a little kid like the original Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, etc... Even I still enjoyed some of the cartoons I grew up with as a 90's baby more, I still greatly enjoyed watching reruns of a lot of those classic cartoons growing up and Cartoon Network definitely helped shape my appreciation for classic animation.

Which makes me really sad for the state that Cartoon Network has been in for past several years and it's been Adult Swim that's been keeping the network alive these days.
BionicleFan1994Sep 21, 2025View

51182Am I too old to be staying up at night watching TeenNick to catch Hey Arnold! reruns?
Thankfully the world is full of lifelong toon fans.

As a kid I fancied myself as a cartoon expert. But one day my favorite 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Stevens, was curious and asked the entire class to mane their favorite cartoon character. One by one every student said the same name, Bugs Bunny.

Mrs. Stevens then listed all her favorite cartoon characters - and that's when I realized that I knew very little cartoon history.

My thanks to CBS for starting me in my quest for cartoon knowledge by keeping alive one of Terrytoons distinctive characters, Mighty Mouse. From 1955 all the way to 1988, CBS offered Mighty Mouse to generations of toon fans. Now I can catch all my old favorites online because I'm still a toon fan even at my age!

eddstarrSep 21, 2025View
