Betcha I'm the only guy around here that likes the live action Captain Marvel series, "Shazam!" by the boys from Filmation back in 1974. I would love to hear a remastered version of the show's theme music, it really is much better than that awful YouTube rendering. CBS used the "Shazam" soundtrack in promos for its entire Saturday morning lineup. It was one of the shows that brightened that long ago bleak year of 1974.

Woah. I didn't know Filmation even made live action fare. That's awesome. I know of Shazam, but didn't realize his real name was Captain Marvel. Has it always been that way? Marvel Comics has a Captain Marvel, so I didn't realize DC did as well.

This show made us all realize that being a superhero wasn't all it's cracked up to be.

It sure is cool that you would ask because the question takes me right back to my comic book guru, a kid named Jerry. From 1964 to 1967 my friend Jerry tutored me in all things superhero. As a result I know the DC universe a lot better than the Marvel version.

Sorry to say that by the time Marvel's version was released I had already left comic books behind and had moved on to other things. However I enjoyed correcting kids that the characters name was "Captain Marvel", not "Shazam". That changed later on, to my embarrassment, lol.

Here's a brief on the Marvel Superhero:

Now here is the DC Comic version, the Captain Marvel I know best:

Proof that anyone can be a superhero. Who says that you have to dress well to be one?

The DC Captain Marvel was first so he's the one I know. The story of Billy Batson able to transform into Captain Marvel is the story that America embraced and I try to stay away from legal battles over "similarities" between characters.

Notice the complex nature of the back stories? Guess it has something to do with human superheros versus an alien from another planet.

Cartoon Network is bringing back Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and The Joker in a new series called "Justice League Action". The episodes will only be 11 minutes long, so they'll be short and sweet. Not sure if they are supposed to be serious or more like Teen Titans GO! and comedic.
