@vkimo: Our county fair isn't until the second week in August. It always heralded the return of school days a week later. I LOVE fair week. It's the most nostalgic time of year for me (even surpassing Christmas), but that's a discussion of another kind.

Here though, we'll be experiencing one of two days/nights when the streets fill up with parked cars (the other being Trick or Treat night). An Ox Roast in the Fireman's Park with food, music, wrestling, games, inflatables, and the like. A parade in the morning, and fireworks in the evening. It's good small town fun.

As a kid there was a cook out and sometimes a drive in movie and watch fireworks. Now it's just chillin with friends and pig out on food and booze along with playing with fireworks.

Cool pikachulover! Never seen that one, I don't think. Any images of it's explosion?

It's only 1:30 PM this Independence Day afternoon, and already my wife has set off our ADT fire alarm making pizza, my son was using the new AIRMAN we purchased and the wind caught it and took it WAY out to where I couldn't see him. I went to try and find him in my tractor, which promptly got stuck. Now I have to go get a truck to pull it out with. Yay.

Unlike last year, there's a 0% chance of rain, so the fireworks will go on.
