They were toy bombs. You place a snap or cap inside, then just drop it on the floor. When the nose hits the floor it engages the snap and pops like a cap gun.

I could see those being the cause of some kid getting cuffed and hauled in for questioning these days.

Yeah, that was back before kids started shooting up their schools, parents had control of their kids.

This is relevant to be since I got a convention coming up the weekend after the 4th of July Weekend.
