| 1979 | Legos | Well, today was the Star Wars celebration, "May the Fourth (be with you)". In recognition of this, Toys 'R Us had a special between 12:00 and 2:00 where you could come in and gather the necessary pieces to build a special one-of-a-kind Lego Star Wars ship.

We took the kids there today to experience it and came away with 5 free Lego ships... and about $150 bucks worth of EXTRA stuff. Those promotional brainiacs sure know how to get you in to spend some money!

Here are some photos I took while there:

The table with boxes containing all the pieces you need for the ship. You gather them up in a tiny baggy and take them to another table to assemble the ship.

My wife assists two of my children assembling the ship. Later these can be torn apart and strewn on the floor for me to step on and wonder what the heck I was thinking.

The finished product.

The TRU employee who was overseeing the customers while they were there said he had probably 50 or so families come in for the event.
| Vaporman87 | May 05, 2013 | ![]() |
| 1978 | Metroid for the NES | I love it even though I was never very good at it. I used to try to make maps but they would always quickly sprawl out of control. Still, graphically, sonically, thematically, and from a design standpoint, one of the best games ever made. | shakin steak | May 04, 2013 | ![]() |
| 1977 | The Skating Rink | I went to a girl's birthday party at a roller rink in Glendale, CA. Then in 2006 my cousin had a birthday party at the same rink. I think it's still there. I think it's used for a shooting location. There was another roller rink in West Covina CA, but it closed in 1998. Or sometime around there. It got converted to a storage facility. | pikachulover | May 04, 2013 | ![]() |
| 1976 | The Skating Rink | I could hold my own on the wood back in the day. my buds and me would hit the rink now and then, load up on mt dew and try to knock each other over when the staff wasnt looking. They turned that place in to a fitness center. | AceNThaHole | May 03, 2013 | ![]() |

| 1972 | The Toy Aisle | Daggon! I want some of those toys. Especially the ships, can you imagine the value of those now? | raptor | May 03, 2013 | ![]() |
| 1971 | The Toy Aisle | That's a great picture. The department stores I went to in childhood didn't have toy aisles. But we did go to Toys R Us. It was right next to Kids R Us. What genius thought of putting the best store and the worst store together? I can't decide if that is evil or good. On one hand, I always had to go to Kids R Us to get new stupid clothes that I hated for picture time or school concerts or some other horrible event. But, I think the need to go there allowed me to beg for a few visits to the toy store that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. | shakin steak | May 03, 2013 | ![]() |
| 1970 | Mother's Day | I live very far away from my parents, so I only see them on Christmas. I like Mother's Day. It's easy. All I have to do is call on the phone, and order flowers. Father's Day and birthdays? I have no idea what to send. | shakin steak | May 03, 2013 | ![]() |
