I stopped by my local TRU (it's on my way to work). Maybe it's because I was too late, or maybe it's because I'm finally too old for toys, but I walked around the entire store and didn't see even one thing worth getting. The place was a mess too, with cluttered aisles and tons of families trying to scavenge for scraps. What's weird is that the registers had signs saying that nothing was on clearance so it's not like they were even getting special deals or anything like that.

This was back in 2008 or so, and even then the manager was explaining how TRU was trying to rebrand somethings, like making the "R-Zone" a Bestbuy like shopping ceneter for electronics. My mother told me about this. When this story first broke, my mother mentioned just how much she hated going into our TRU store when I was a kid. She considered it such an ordeal just for a toy.Online shopping along with super stores like Wal-Mart are just far too more convenient for shopping then going to an individual store for each thing you want.

Working retail is rough, and TRU was no exception, lol. But it totally was a good place to work. I never dreaded going to work when I was there. When I ended up working at Walmart however, I dreaded every day. I think that says a lot.

What did you while working at TRU?

Gonna miss it so much. I Try and Raise my kids on only 80s and 90s media. TRU was the only place that we could score the Megazord Dragonzord and all those legacy morphers and stuff my son is obsessed with. we went there and bought him all of that and then went to Salt Lake City Comic Con to meet Tommy the Green Ranger. I don't know who was more excited, HIm or I . But we got him to sign all of it. I love love love that place. In Fact I just Submitted a TRU RIP article. I literally just realized today that RJ DIED and came over to this awesome sight. So good to see a lot of my favorite writers from that sight hopped on over here. I thought it was dead. But lives on better in a way.

Amen to that.I worked a second Job at Game Crazy During the WII heyday and the Guitar Hero Rockband Heyday. People I worked with still say they have nightmares to this very day, of hearing a phone ringing and ringing and ringing searching ever where to find it. When the phone in their nightmare is finally located they grab it, place it to their ear and before they can say hello the most horryfing sentence ever uttered by man comes out the other end,,,

"DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY WIIS IN STOCK?"
