I've noticed that Wal-Mart is once again selling REAL Christmas trees. Now I've also seen REAL wreaths.

Our tree came from Lowe's.

Each year we get our REAL tree from a place just a mile or so down the road. A fellow who owns a print shop has a crop of them available each winter, and we try to find one that is skinny and short enough to fit in our house. Then, after we pick the winner, he gives the kids a piece of candy from a basket. I think they remember that more than they do the actual tree picking.

When it's time to get the tree I don my Wolverine Boots (Not the brand wolverine, these are made from actual wolverine's I captured, while naked) thrown on a couple layers of plaid flannel and take a trek up into the Yukon. Then after about 2 weeks of hunting for the proper conifer, I take the 50lb axe I have slung across my back and take it down. After that I lash it using the hair on my back and drag it back to town.

This year I threw my back out though picking up the remote control, got one of those fancy QVC trees in the mail. Lights up and collapses into a neat 2X2 box for next year.

The song "Deck the Halls" may be a Christmas song, but it's actually about New Year's Eve.

Each year, one of our children take their turn visiting a one specific shop in town where they choose the star they like most and hang it on top of the tree. Then, after Christmas is over, that star is hung on a wall somewhere in our house to live out the rest of it's days.

Does anybody have any similarly unique traditions having to do with the season?

one tradition that my family used to have was opening one present on christmas eve, but it couldn't be a big present

Is it just me or were the traps in Home Alone 2 more severe?

Those traps can kill a person O_O. I take it you saw the Buzzfeed article on them?
