He did set the bar high on what on a teen movie should be like.  Most teen movies today can't even hit the mark that he set.  When he make Sixteen Candles and movies like it he did it in the voice of the teen themselves and didn't try to make it like they were adults.  That is why his movies hold up even today because teens face the same struggles today just in different ways.

64 of the top movies of 1986 battle it out. Brackets are set up by genre and have been seeded to the best of my ability.
