In honor of an amazing feat that this album just achieved and for just earning a 20x Platinum status in the US, I nominate Metallica's Black Album:

Regardless of your opinion or your ranking of this album off Metallica's albums...you can't deny how HUGE this album was for band and metal and how it took them and the genre into whole other stratosphere.

From 2007, the alternate reality game, "World Without Oil", deserves a place in the Retro Hall of Fame.

Speaking of Britney Spears, how about that time she was a schoolgirl in the Baby One More Time video? When she showed off that look, girls across the world wanted to be like her.

Yeah, there was no other female pop star like Britney Spears in the Late-90's/Early-2000's. She was in a whole other stratosphere compared to people like P!nk, Jessica Simpson and Nelly Furtado.

Now I'm going to nominate a best selling greatest hits album from the greatest power ballad band of all time...Journey:

Dad's a huge Journey fan. I bought him the Greatest Hits album and it's now one of his favorite albums!

Summer's is on the way and now, I want to nominate someone very, very special. An honorable figure. A real American hero. I'm talking about...

The Ice Cream Man.

For generations, this wonderful man served hot kids during the blazing hot summers with his frozen goodies from his cold, ice cream-filled truck. Yes sir, he was there and is still there to serve Firecracker pops, swirl cones, Drumsticks, and SOOOOO much more. So when you hear Turkey in the Straw being played in your neighborhood, you know that American hero is coming. Thank you, Mr. Ice Cream for being there for kids and their families then and now. So, why not treat yourself to a nice frozen treat? Oh, and don't forget to thank him.

Great call, but have encountered a Turkish Ice Cream Man? Turkish ice cream doesn't melt.

I take back my Ride The Lightning nomination in favor of a different Metallica album to represent their first five albums. If I had to pick a Metallica album that best represents what they were at their peak, I'd pick the ...And Justice For All album:

I've been listening to this album a lot lately...and I've got to say this album is my all time favorite Metallica album. I have just always loved the progressive nature of the overall songs and music on this album. This album sold over 9 million copies alone in America and was on the US Billboard albums chart for a total of 123 weeks.

I love all of Metallica's first five albums almost equally and love their first seven albums (80's and 90's stuff) and my favorite album of theirs always changes between their first five albums, but ...And Justice For All (1988) best represents the amazing musical growth and evolution the band went through back in the day. But I keep my Black Album nomination just because of the amazing feat it just achieved. I deleted my Ride The Lightning post.

Plus, I have a nostalgic attachment to this album due to "One" being the first Metallica song I ever heard through playing Guitar Hero 3 and this album being the first Metallica/Metal CD I ever bought.

Anyways...sorry I know this isn't the Metallica Hall Of Fame and a Metallica forum, LOL. So I also nominate the Golden Age Of NASCAR Gaming (1998-2005):

Even if you aren't/weren't a NASCAR fan...what gamer especially sports gamers growing up in the Late-90's/Early-To-Mid-2000's didn't love playing EA Sports' NASCAR games and playing these games to win fictional races and cause fictional crashes? In many ways...playing NASCAR games back in the day could be way more exciting and entertaining than watching the sport itself.

Simon

You can't beat Simon. Simon beats YOU.

Since the 70s , this game has been putting players' speed and concentration skills to the test. It may start off easy, but it gets harder and harder the more you play. So be as ready as you can be. So what do you say? Are you up to the challenge to take on the legendary Simon?
